Salvador Romero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antonio Fordham having to interfere. In the 29th minute, Jimi Hendrix hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 36 minutes into the match, U21 Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Drake Butterworth came free, but Gabriel Godinez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 38th minute Drake Butterworth shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gabriel Godinez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gabriel Godinez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jimi Hendrix's shot from short distance in the 41st minute.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Guido Ortega stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Long Dong ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gabriel Godinez was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Gabriel Godinez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Paul Matamoros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Antonio Fordham made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Guido Ortega sent off a good shot on target. Guido Ortegas short, quick shot in the 71stth minute got Antonio Fordham to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Paul Matamoros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Antonio Fordham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 76 minutes, Guido Ortega took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Antonio Fordham to make any attempt to save it. 83 minutes into the match, Long Dong notched a goal, 4-2, to the right of U21 Costa Rica's Gabriel Godinez. Gabriel Godinez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. U21 Australia were awarded a corner in the 87th minute after U21 Costa Rica's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Drake Butterworth took the corner. The corner led U21 Australia's Drake Butterworth to fire away a dangerous shot which Gabriel Godinez despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 88 minutes into the match, U21 Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Brockman Szobczak came free, but Gabriel Godinez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Giovanni Gallo kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Antonio Fordham made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Jóel Campbell sent off a good shot on target. U21 Australia's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
