When Roman Gogava fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Georgia's protests and gave Roman Gogava a yellow card for diving instead. Saatxan Ibişov came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Georgia's Lukhum Cholokaev. But to his dismay, Lukhum Cholokaev quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Through an outstanding action, after 63 minutes, Vadim Bitsadze successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 69th minute Vilayät Omarov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vadim Bitsadze saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U21 Georgia's Valiko Goraniskov was substituted for Taka Torotadze. U21 Azerbaijan were awarded a corner in the 72th minute after U21 Georgia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Baloğlan Ähmädli took the corner. Saatxan Ibişov breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
