With a little luck, Cyprus's Polybos Kreskas got control of the ball when József Pálosi tried to sneak it across the goal line. Konstantinos Xirafis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gáspár Bódog having to interfere. In the 15th minute, Dávid Barczi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Polybos Kreskas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gyula Herman, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Balázs Benkó got free with Polybos Kreskas in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Polybos Kreskas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gyula Herman in the 26th minute of the match. Cyprus's Polybos Kreskas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Cyprus from getting a goal against them. Polybos Kreskas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from József Pálosi went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fanis Dalianis in the 33rd minute of play forced Hungary's goalkeeper Gáspár Bódog to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Fanis Dalianis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gáspár Bódog was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. Polybos Kreskas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gyula Herman's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. Polybos Kreskas came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Hungary's Balázs Benkó. But to his dismay, Balázs Benkó quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. In the 47th minute, Aktaion Melonakos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Aktaion Melonakos made a kick off. Polybos Kreskas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gyula Herman in the 52nd minute of play. In the 55th minute Aktaion Melonakos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gáspár Bódog saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 56th minute of the match Cyprus got a corner. Hungary's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dardanos Sklavenitis ran over to the corner to take the kick. Cyprus's Dardanos Sklavenitis was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Gáspár Bódog in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Balázs Benkó in the 58th minute of play forced Cyprus's goalkeeper Polybos Kreskas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. József Pálosi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hungary made a substitution. Péter Rederer replaced Mihály Zádori. Hungary's András Medgyesi was substituted for Gyula Herman. Cyprus made a substitution. Nassos Zouvelekis replaced Dardanos Sklavenitis. Hungary's Bertold Ács was substituted for Dávid Barczi. Cyprus's Akontios Giangos was substituted for Fanis Dalianis. Hungary were awarded a corner in the 68th minute after Cyprus's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Márk Mogyorós took the corner. Hungary's András Sánta was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Polybos Kreskas in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 70 minutes into the match, Cyprus's goal looked a bit too open when Balázs Benkó came free, but Polybos Kreskas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Polybos Kreskas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Balázs Benkó, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 72 minutes, József Pálosi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hungary's supporters crossed their fingers, but József Pálosi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cyprus's Lefteris Antonopoulos was substituted for Konstantinos Xirafis. Akontios Giangos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Gáspár Bódog made a huge save. 78 minutes into the match, Hungary's goalkeeper Gáspár Bódog had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Akontios Giangos. After 80 minutes Hungary's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Argiris Papoutsis who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Cyprus's corner Nassos Zouvelekis fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Gáspár Bódog quite easily take care of the ball. When the match clock showed 80 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Nassos Zouvelekis sped through Hungary's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gáspár Bódog. 83 minutes into the match, Hungary's goalkeeper Gáspár Bódog had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Akontios Giangos. József Pálosi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Polybos Kreskas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. Polybos Kreskas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from András Medgyesi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cyprus's Polybos Kreskas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by András Medgyesi in the 93rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Akontios Giangos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cyprus's supporters rose to their feet, but Akontios Giangos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gáspár Bódog breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Hungary fully deserved thier win.
