Angel Odon blasted a shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Seth Lopes having to make a save. 6 minutes into the match, Mexico's Angel Odon sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Seth Lopes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. USA's Seth Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Angel Odon in the 10th minute of play. In the 10thth minute of the game Angel Odon who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but USA's Seth Lopes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jonathan Aznar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Denis Barrett in the 12th minute of the match. Jonathan Aznar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dennis Kinsey, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. In the 15th minute of the match USA got a corner. Mexico's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ned McGraw ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Ned McGraw almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Mexico's Jonathan Aznar did a great save. Seth Lopes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angel Odon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Angel Odon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Seth Lopes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Rocco Hopkins came free, but Jonathan Aznar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rocco Hopkins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Jonathan Aznar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 40th minute Landon Donovan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Seth Lopes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 42 minutes into the match, USA's goal looked a bit too open when Angel Odon came free, but Seth Lopes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Aldo Andrade scored 2-0 in the 55th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Aznar, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Angel Odon got free with Seth Lopes in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 66 minutes into the game, Landon Donovan recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Seth Lopes. Landon Donovan showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Seth Lopes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Landon Donovan in the 69th minute of the match. In the 77th minute Landon Donovan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Seth Lopes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Denis Barrett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Aznar having to interfere. Mexico's José Antonio Noriega was substituted for Landon Donovan. USA's Heriberto Spivey was substituted for Ismael Palacios. Jonathan Aznar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tracy Morse in the 84th minute of the match. Saul Pietro struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Seth Lopes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. Jonathan Aznar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dennis Kinsey, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Denis Barrett in the 94th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Jonathan Aznar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
