With a little luck, U21 Peru's Menendo Cabañas got control of the ball when Britt Miranda tried to sneak it across the goal line. U21 Peru's Menendo Cabañas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Peru from getting a goal against them. In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Peru's goalkeeper Menendo Cabañas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Héctor Lavoie hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Menendo Cabañas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Britt Miranda, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Xulio Pozos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Mariano Andujar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 32nd minute Xulio Pozos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mariano Andujar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lloyd Bingham hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cordarrol Villamandos in the 33rd minute of play forced U21 Canada's goalkeeper Mariano Andujar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The corner led U21 Peru's Xulio Pozos to fire away a dangerous shot which Mariano Andujar despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 39 minutes into the match, U21 Canada's goal looked a bit too open when Héctor Lavoie came free, but Mariano Andujar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 40th minute U21 Peru were awarded a corner. Tomas Briceño went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Tomas Briceño got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Mariano Andujar quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. When Lloyd Bingham fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Canada's protests and gave Lloyd Bingham a yellow card for diving instead. After 42 played minutes U21 Canada got a freekick which was hit by Lloyd Bingham. Mariano Andujar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cordarrol Villamandos in the 43rd minute of play. Mariano Andujar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xulio Pozos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ken Lafrenière stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match clock showed 56 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Britt Miranda sped through U21 Peru's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Menendo Cabañas. The supporters of U21 Canada booed when U21 Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fertus Llorente didn't get a good kick on the ball. Osoitz Sarmiento might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mariano Andujar. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Osoitz Sarmiento ran back to his position shaking his head. U21 Canada's Humbert Montgomery was substituted for Ernest Vernon. U21 Canada were awarded a corner in the 70th minute after U21 Peru's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Donte Felton took the corner. In the last second Mariano Andujar throw himself and got hold of the ball when Cordarrol Villamandos in the 71stth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cordarrol Villamandos in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mariano Andujar saved U21 Canada from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 72 minutes, Cordarrol Villamandos put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Mariano Andujar. U21 Peru made a substitution. Bertran Garin replaced Ioritz Lecuona. U21 Peru made a substitution. Luke Busto replaced Cordarrol Villamandos. Menendo Cabañas came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Canada's Ken Lafrenière. But to his dismay, Ken Lafrenière quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. After a rather tough play, U21 Canada's Lloyd Bingham got a free kick in the 79th minute. In the 81st minute, Ivon Asensio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to U21 Peru getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Ivon Asensio hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Britt Miranda in the 83rd minute of play forced U21 Peru's goalkeeper Menendo Cabañas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 85 minutes into the game, Britt Miranda cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Menendo Cabañas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 92 minutes of play, U21 Canada's Glenn Calhoun made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Menendo Cabañas was left in no man's land by his defense there! Many of U21 Peru's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. U21 Peru may have spent more time on the ball, but U21 Canada were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
