Granwen Cornell ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Wadu Dexter managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Wales's supporters rose to their feet, but Wadu Dexter was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Grigoriy Karpov breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ithel Ally in the 12th minute of play forced U21 Russia's goalkeeper Grigoriy Karpov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to U21 Russia getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Pavel Polunin hit a great ball. Grigoriy Karpov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ithel Ally in the 19th minute of the match. When U21 Wales's Ithel Ally in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Russia's goalie prevented a goal. Grigoriy Karpov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ithel Ally in the 24th minute of play. Granwen Cornell struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Grigoriy Karpov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Wales. The audience was convinced that Ithel Ally's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Grigoriy Karpov was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. When Vasiliy Kulikov came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the U21 Russia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vasiliy Kulikov couldn't finish the play. U21 Wales's Hafgan Lloyd was substituted for Edmyg Monger. Fedor Vishnyakov kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. 34 minutes into the match, U21 Russia's goal looked a bit too open when Ithel Ally came free, but Grigoriy Karpov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The U21 Russia players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. U21 Wales were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vasiliy Kulikov was the one to do the kick off. In the 55thth minute of the game Vasiliy Kulikov who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Wales's Pryderi Blyth was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. U21 Russia's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Vasiliy Kulikov in the 56th minute. U21 Russia's Grigoriy Karpov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ithel Ally in the 56th minute of play. After some careless play in the U21 Russia defense, Ithel Ally kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Grigoriy Karpov. The U21 Russia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Grigoriy Karpov should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, U21 Russia's Grigoriy Karpov got control of the ball when Ithel Ally tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ithel Ally could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Grigoriy Karpov made a huge save. Tremayne Hayward recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to U21 Russia getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Pavel Klyukvin hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Granwen Cornell in the 76th minute of play forced U21 Russia's goalkeeper Grigoriy Karpov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ithel Ally in the 78thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Grigoriy Karpov, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 82 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Russia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Granwen Cornell was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Wales's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Granwen Cornell almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 Russia's Grigoriy Karpov did a great save. U21 Russia were awarded a corner in the 86th minute after U21 Wales's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Vasiliy Kulikov took the corner. The corner led U21 Russia's Vasiliy Kulikov to fire away a dangerous shot which Pryderi Blyth despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 91st minute, Granwen Cornell made a precise shot to the right of Grigoriy Karpov. U21 Russia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Gwyneira Knight's late challenge caught a U21 Russia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gwyneira Knight helped the player get up and apologised. The U21 Wales supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing U21 Wales would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
