U21 Argentina's Alvaro Lore played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sigge Bus in the 19th minute of play. Toni Alonso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alvaro Lore read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. After a rather tough play, U21 Sweden's Marco Hummels got a free kick in the 46th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Apolo Ordono to make the kick off. U21 Sweden's Sigge Bus got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. U21 Argentina's Ciro Caton was substituted for Horacio Tuste. U21 Argentina made a substitution. Turcota Garcia replaced Apolo Ordono. U21 Sweden's Alex Hedkvist was substituted for Toni Alonso. Ciro Caton blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Erling Wassenius having to make a save. If Alex Hedkvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Turcota Garcia in the 74th minute of play forced U21 Sweden's goalkeeper Erling Wassenius to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 76th minute of the match U21 Argentina got a corner. U21 Sweden's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jorge-Daniel Bermúdez ran over to the corner to take the kick. Jorge-Daniel Bermúdez made a great header on U21 Argentina's corner, it was just that U21 Sweden's Erling Wassenius managed to reach the ball for a save. Erling Wassenius took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Turcota Garcia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 77 minutes into the game, U21 Argentina's Turcota Garcia nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Erling Wassenius came out of the goal and Turcota Garcia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 88 minutes, Tage Hesteng managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Sweden's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tage Hesteng was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 93 minutes U21 Argentina's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Shiven Selta who took care of the corner kick. Shiven Selta made a great header on U21 Sweden's corner, it was just that U21 Argentina's Alvaro Lore managed to reach the ball for a save. Alvaro Lore showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tage Hesteng, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute.
