Isaac Dauwen might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Manu Neuer. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. With a little luck, Belgium's Herve Gallot got control of the ball when Pawel Ferrari tried to sneak it across the goal line. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dwight Coats to strike the kick off in the second half. If Isaac Dauwen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 80th minute of the match, Isaac Dauwen tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Manu Neuer saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Isaac Dauwen blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Manu Neuer having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dwight Coats in the 85th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Herve Gallot to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 86 minutes into the match, Jacques Van der Veken dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Manu Neuer, 2-3. Belgium made a substitution. Robbe Sielis replaced Ief Hombroeckx. Belgium's Joery Steckens was substituted for Octaaf De Weerdt. Belgium's Herve Gallot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dwight Coats in the 92nd minute of play. The Belgium supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Belgium would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
