With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arthur Byrne in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fortunato Serrano saved Peru from getting behind. With a little luck, Peru's Fortunato Serrano got control of the ball when Arthur Byrne tried to sneak it across the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, Peru's goalkeeper Fortunato Serrano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Arthur Byrne. In the 35th minute, Aristides Ayaso ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Shea Ryan was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After 41 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ireland! Ireland:s Shea Ryan showed great skill when he stopped Ignacio Urtuuste:s penalty. In the 43rd minute, Hayes Byrne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Peru were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

If Aristides Ayaso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 61st minute, Brendanus McMichel left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ireland fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. Bressail McIan took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fortunato Serrano. Fortunato Serrano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. In the 95th minute, Martin Cascales hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ireland's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
