Fausto Guixe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jákup Midjurd, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. 11 minutes into the game, Barros Moraina was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Colombia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Faroe Islands the free kick. Barros Moraina kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bogi Jónsson during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of U21 Colombia booed when U21 Faroe Islands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brian Castilho didn't get a good kick on the ball. 22 minutes into the match, Barros Moraina had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fríðrikur Castilho. U21 Faroe Islands's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Barros Moraina was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 36th minute Jákup Midjurd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fausto Guixe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jákup Midjurd took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fausto Guixe. Fausto Guixe dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Barros Moraina scored 2-1 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fríðrikur Castilho, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Xorxe Landazuri's late challenge caught a U21 Faroe Islands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Xorxe Landazuri helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to U21 Colombia getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Xorxe Landazuri hit a great ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Barros Moraina stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, U21 Colombia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rios Molleda to maneuver through the defense. Barros Moraina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fríðrikur Castilho having to interfere. In the 56th minute, Jákup Midjurd hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. U21 Colombia's Barros Moraina got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 81st minute, Xorxe Landazuri got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jákup Midjurd who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 89thth minute tested the skills of Fausto Guixe when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Fausto Guixe made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Jákup Midjurd sent off a good shot on target. U21 Colombia's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
