Bastian Pretzer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trim Bardhi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 22nd minute, Trim Bardhi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With an all-out effort, Macedonia's Bastian Pretzer threw himself towards the right post 30 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Bekim Ribarski, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Macedonia's supporters rose to their feet, but Trim Bardhi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bastian Pretzer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 47 minutes into the game, Kostadin Savič threw the ball into play from the sideline. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bekim Ribarski was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trim Bardhi in the 62nd minute of play forced Austria's goalkeeper Bastian Pretzer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Macedonia's Dalin Sofroniev was substituted for Kostadin Savič. Trim Bardhi made a great header on Macedonia's corner, it was just that Austria's Bastian Pretzer managed to reach the ball for a save.
