Stanislav Ilkov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bat Male in the 13th minute of the match. After 16 minutes, Dankward Bång mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Finland and the U21 Bulgaria players grew even worse after the yellow card. Stanislav Ilkov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aivo Pierucci, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. U21 Bulgaria's Lilcho Mustakerski got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The U21 Bulgaria fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kiril Milanov to strike the kick off in the second half. U21 Finland's Dankward Bång managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Yanek Buyukliyski in the 54 minute of the game. When Yanek Buyukliyski fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Bulgaria's protests and gave Yanek Buyukliyski a yellow card for diving instead. Yanek Buyukliyski kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Lilcho Mustakerski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
