Saul Pietro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fortunato Serrano read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 14th minute after Peru's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ciro Munio took the corner. Mexico's Teo Olando was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Fortunato Serrano in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Ciro Munio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zelipe Baz was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 18th minute. Peru's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After 19 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Eulalio Santo. Jonathan Aznar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zelipe Baz in the 20th minute of the match. Fortunato Serrano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saul Pietro in the 22nd minute of play. Edur Ojesto kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Jeffrey Ramon's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Aznar was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Mexico's zone, Zelipe Baz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Aznar came out of the goal and Zelipe Baz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Saul Pietro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Saul Pietro in the 39th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Fortunato Serrano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 42 minutes into the match, Mexico's Ciro Munio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fortunato Serrano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 45 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Saul Pietro came free, but Fortunato Serrano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jonathan Aznar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeffrey Ramon, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Peru's Fortunato Serrano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. Fortunato Serrano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ciro Munio in the 57th minute. In the 58th minute, Nereo Bizen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mexico made a substitution. Filomeno Ferran replaced Raul Clis. Mexico made a substitution. Roberto-Carlos De la Cruz replaced Eulalio Santo. Peru made a substitution. Vinicio Arnuero replaced Imanol Caballero. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Nereo Bizen got a free kick in the 59th minute. After some careless play in the Mexico defense, Vimaro Castaosa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Aznar. The Mexico fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Aznar should have stopped the shot. Edur Ojesto kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Teo Olando in the 87th minute. After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Teo Olando fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Fortunato Serrano quite easily take care of the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 89 minutes into the game, when Filomeno Ferran put in a rough tackle. In the 95th minute of the match Peru got a corner. Mexico's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Felipe Chang ran over to the corner to take the kick. Peru's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
