When Aćim Bilić came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Serbia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aćim Bilić couldn't finish the play. Serafim Ašković could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Bastian Pretzer made a huge save. A collision led to Serbia getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Davor Timotić hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Peer Stocker in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rastko Mirosavljević prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 45 minutes into the match, Dominik Jensen notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Serbia's Rastko Mirosavljević. Rastko Mirosavljević was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The Serbia players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Austria were winning 1-2.
