Aurel Chevereșan was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Romania's players had a chance to rest. If Mugurel Banica had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mugurel Banica fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nabel Al Towatan having to interfere. Dawood Al Banwan's late challenge caught a U21 Romania's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
