Bastian Pretzer had in the 22ndth minute some difficulties stopping 黄震卫's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Šućo Okaemov struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Bastian Pretzer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for China. 胡阳斐 took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andre Kalvelage, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 29th minute Peer Stocker shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 胡阳斐 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bastian Pretzer was a little too slow when Robert Pires got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 32nd minute. In the 39thth minute of the game Peer Stocker who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but China's 胡阳斐 was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 40th match minute, Austria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Peter Mundanjohl to maneuver through the defense. 胡阳斐 showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Peter Mundanjohl, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Robert Pires to strike the kick off in the second half. Austria's Bastian Pretzer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Šućo Okaemov in the 54th minute of play. 55 minutes had been played when some careless play by Austria's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. The China fans cheered their team off the field, for while Austria had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
