Spectators: 10302 (Terracing: 7727, Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Jonatan Palma took the kick off in the first half of the match. Saviour Maurin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Helmuth Rudy in the 3rd minute of the match. Helmuth Rudy hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. In the 9th minute, Sebastian Zarb ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sergio Livingstone was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After 12 played minutes, U21 Malta's George Sabatino shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Sergio Livingstone came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in U21 Malta reached it. In the 18th minute, Jonatan Palma fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Saviour Maurin, passed just outside the right post. 25 minutes into the match, U21 Chile's Helmuth Rudy sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Saviour Maurin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, U21 Malta's Saviour Maurin got control of the ball when Jonatan Palma tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Jonatan Palma kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Saviour Maurin. That made the score 1-1 in the 26 minute of play. A collision led to U21 Chile getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Jonatan Palma hit a great ball. Saviour Maurin made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Jonatan Palma sent off a good shot on target. 35 minutes into the match, U21 Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Zarb came free, but Sergio Livingstone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Helmuth Rudy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Saviour Maurin having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sebastian Zarb in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sergio Livingstone prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sebastian Zarb to make the kick off. Jonatan Palma recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 57th minute U21 Chile were awarded a corner. Juliano Curiñanco went to the cornerflag to take it. After having played for 66 minutes, Jonatan Palma managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Chile's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jonatan Palma was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, U21 Chile's Sergio Livingstone got control of the ball when Carmel Cauchi Inglott tried to sneak it across the goal line. Saviour Maurin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Helmuth Rudy, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Jonatan Palma fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Saviour Maurin having to interfere. U21 Chile's Cresenciano Villarino was substituted for Jonatan Palma. In the 93rd match minute, U21 Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Helmuth Rudy to maneuver through the defense. In the 94th match minute, U21 Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eber Adaos to maneuver through the defense. U21 Chile were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of U21 Malta for a fine match.
