In the 3rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Argentina's goalkeeper Felipe van der Sar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ronald Small came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Argentina's Armando Martinez. But to his dismay, Armando Martinez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Felipe van der Sar didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bernardo Brower went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Argentina were awarded a corner in the 19th minute after USA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mauro Naldo took the corner. Mauro Naldo struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Ronald Small didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Argentina. When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Armando Martinez took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Ronald Small to make any attempt to save it. Felipe van der Sar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernardo Brower, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Humberto Palban kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. USA's Ronald Small proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save USA from getting a goal against them. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Argentina's goalkeeper Felipe van der Sar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ronald Small showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Casimiro Eyague in the 35th minute of the match. Casimiro Eyague fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronald Small having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Von Ramirez to strike the kick off in the second half. Ronald Small showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Casimiro Eyague in the 50th minute of the match. Von Ramirez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Felipe van der Sar made a huge save. Ronald Small took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armando Martinez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. USA's Myles Randall was substituted for Stan Regan. In the 58th minute, Virgilio Mikolas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ronald Small stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Casimiro Eyague's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. Bernardo Brower was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 64th minute. USA's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Argentina's Felipe van der Sar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Argentina from getting a goal against them. Godfredo Ostargi hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. USA made a substitution. Willie Felder replaced Bernardo Brower. In the 72nd minute, Godfredo Ostargi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Myles Randall might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Felipe van der Sar. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Myles Randall ran back to his position shaking his head. USA's Jerry McKay quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Rodolfo Sidro, made in the 75th minute of the game. Aldo Andrade hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Benigno Rencio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cody Arnold could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Felipe van der Sar made a huge save. USA's Willie Felder got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 91st minute, Benigno Rencio left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Argentina fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. Argentina's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
