Kenneth Smeland dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Alkis Tsagarakis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olaf Knutsen in the 14th minute of play. After 31 minutes of play, Norway's Hans Andersen made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alkis Tsagarakis was left in no man's land by his defense there! Fanis Michailidis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Kenneth Smeland made a huge save. Alkis Tsagarakis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hans Andersen, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. After a rather tough play, Greece's Vaios Chionidis got a free kick in the 41st minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Norway's Kenneth Smeland played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fanis Michailidis in the 51st minute of play. 52 minutes into the match, Norway's goal looked a bit too open when Fanis Michailidis came free, but Kenneth Smeland reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fanis Michailidis scored 2-1 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kenneth Smeland, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 65 minutes into the match, Greece's goalkeeper Alkis Tsagarakis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Olaf Knutsen. Kenneth Smeland took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fanis Michailidis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Fanis Michailidis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fanis Michailidis in the 71st minute of play forced Norway's goalkeeper Kenneth Smeland to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Greece's Thomas Adamatos was substituted for Fanis Michailidis. Greece made a substitution. Makis Topoudis replaced Filippos Mouratidis. Greece's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Kostas Megalios in the 78th minute. The supporters of Norway booed when Greece was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fotis Kanatas didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 82nd match minute, Norway was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martin Silden to maneuver through the defense. Kenneth Smeland didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Thomas Adamatos went, in the 91st minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. When the referee blew the final whistle, Greece could leave the field as winners, despite Norway having more of the ball for most of the match.
