USA's supporters rose to their feet, but Cody Arnold was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ramirez Cantillo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in USA's zone, Ignacio Gorbea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dean Li came out of the goal and Ignacio Gorbea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ecuador's Jaramillo Candia was substituted for Cevallos Ojea. Ecuador made a substitution. Alvaro Camats replaced Arboleda Tamayo. Ecuador's Pascual Regueiro was substituted for Juanito Bermeo. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alvaro Camats was the one to do the kick off. Fernando Carrero replaced Cody Arnold. Emery Singer made a great header on USA's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Ramirez Cantillo managed to reach the ball for a save. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ramirez Cantillo, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 93rd minute, Alvaro Camats hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alvaro Camats in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dean Li saved USA from getting behind. The USA supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing USA would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
