Simon Sceberras Trigona made in the 11th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Alfred Xriha. 14 minutes into the match, Malta's goal looked a bit too open when Patrice Larue came free, but Cleaven Trevisan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 15th minute of the match France got a corner. Malta's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Patrice Larue ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Dino Fieschi got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Cleaven Trevisan quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The corner led France's Patrice Larue to fire away a dangerous shot which Cleaven Trevisan despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 20 minutes into the game, Malta's Gerard Christophoro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Bobbi Marley made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Gerard Christophoro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 34 minutes into the game, Etienne Suda threw the ball into play from the sideline. France's François-Xavier Bonnin quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Bobbi Marley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gerard Christophoro in the 40th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rodrigo Peytavin got free with Cleaven Trevisan in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cleaven Trevisan stood somewhat misplaced when Patrice Larue came free in front of goal and shot 2-1 to the left of him in the 46 minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Patrice Larue to strike the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Gerard Christophoro took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Bobbi Marley to make any attempt to save it. Cleaven Trevisan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodrigo Peytavin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. France's Jérôme Poinsot got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rodrigo Peytavin might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cleaven Trevisan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rodrigo Peytavin ran back to his position shaking his head. Patrice Larue sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Malta's Ryan Peplow was substituted for Gerard Christophoro. Malta's Cleaven Trevisan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patrice Larue in the 79th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Patrice Larue's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cleaven Trevisan was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. Joe Cioffi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Bobbi Marley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Etienne Suda made in the 87th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by France's François-Xavier Bonnin. Cleaven Trevisan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodrigo Peytavin in the 88th minute of the match. The corner ended in Joe Cioffi almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but France's Bobbi Marley did a great save. Cleaven Trevisan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrice Larue, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute.
