Poland's attentive Zachariasz Jaszyna managed to snatch the ball when Joaquim Assunção made a throw-in in the 13th minute of the game. Diamantino Amaro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Iwo Kasprzykowski went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 16 minutes into the match, João Guerreiro dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Radoslaw Pietras, 1-1. 19 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Iwo Kasprzykowski came free, but Diamantino Amaro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Poland's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olgierd Zukowski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Diamantino Amaro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Olgierd Zukowski's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. In the 88th minute Poland were awarded a corner. Jedrzej Bronkala went to the cornerflag to take it. Jedrzej Bronkala made a great header on Poland's corner, it was just that Portugal's Diamantino Amaro managed to reach the ball for a save.
