The tension between the Fotbal Club Sibiu and the GKS Witosa players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 3rd match minute, Fotbal Club Sibiu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rudi Balken to maneuver through the defense. Uffe Bordum didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Herbie Bönninger went, in the 5th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. 9 minutes into the match, Jonah Chille had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Uffe Bordum. Fotbal Club Sibiu's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jonah Chille was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. With a little luck, Fotbal Club Sibiu's Uffe Bordum got control of the ball when Till Schröder tried to sneak it across the goal line. 14 minutes into the match, GKS Witosa's goal looked a bit too open when Rudi Balken came free, but Luciano Aurken reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The GKS Witosa fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Wolf-Jürgen Köstler took a quick shot and it went in 4-0 without a chance for Uffe Bordum to make any attempt to save it. Fotbal Club Sibiu's Uffe Bordum proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Fotbal Club Sibiu from getting a goal against them. If Till Schröder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Luciano Aurken came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Fotbal Club Sibiu's Ibrahim Lösch. But to his dismay, Ibrahim Lösch quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonah Chille in the 39th minute of play forced Fotbal Club Sibiu's goalkeeper Uffe Bordum to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonah Chille in the 39thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Uffe Bordum, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Luciano Aurken showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yann Deckers in the 44th minute of the match. Berten Maseur struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Luciano Aurken didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fotbal Club Sibiu. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Herbie Bönninger made the kick off in the second half. Fotbal Club Sibiu's Uffe Bordum played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Herbie Bönninger in the 51st minute of play.
