In the 21st minute Joonatan Bautmans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henric Örn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evert Mattsson in the 27th minute of play forced Het Koffiehuis's goalkeeper Marcus Mathy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 28 played minutes Het Koffiehuis got a freekick which was hit by Emiel Van Wontergem. After having played for 29 minutes, Evert Mattsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Henric Örn made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Charlie Roeckeloos sent off a good shot on target. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The crowd rose to their feet as Newcastle United F.C.'s Pär Wikander slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Marcus Mathy. That made the score 3-1 after 95 minutes of play. Newcastle United F.C.'s players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
