The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 10 played minutes Östers IF got a freekick which was hit by Karl-Ove Sandell. After 12 minutes, Andréas Trillkott mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Squidens IF and the Östers IF players grew even worse after the yellow card. A hard shot by Roberto-Carlos Junior from long distance, 14 minutes into the match, got Albin Odeen's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 16th match minute, Squidens IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Göran Hääger to maneuver through the defense. 18 minutes into the match, Östers IF's goal looked a bit too open when Joar Majman came free, but Herbert Valler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jens-Ove Magnusson kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 20thth minute. Though ot was a great shot Squidens IF's keeper Albin Odeen was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. Herbert Valler showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Göran Hääger in the 22nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Squidens IF's Joar Majman got a free kick in the 25th minute. Karl-Johan Alebäck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Herbert Valler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jens-Ove Magnusson kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. The Östers IF players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Squidens IF were winning 0-2.

The referee gave Östers IF a penalty, 98 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Alvaro Pizzi, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Squidens IF's Albin Odeen. 1-4. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Squidens IF eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
