RB Hallstadt's Kai Willems started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 10th minute Feddo Roegler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter Schott saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerard Brameshuber in the 12th minute of play forced RB Hallstadt's goalkeeper Peter Schott to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Peter Schott showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Feddo Roegler in the 15th minute of the match. The supporters of Eintracht Braunschweig booed when RB Hallstadt was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilbert Unger didn't get a good kick on the ball. RB Hallstadt's Peter Schott played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerard Brameshuber in the 18th minute of play. Holger Böse took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Peter Schott. Peter Schott dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After 24 played minutes RB Hallstadt got a freekick which was hit by Gilbert Unger. Peter Schott took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Feddo Roegler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Peter Schott showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gerard Brameshuber, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Wolfhard Vielmann was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Kai Willems showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 29 minute of play. In the 32nd minute, Herbert Piltz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gustav Raimann hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. In the 43rd minute Holger Böse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter Schott saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kai Willems struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Wolfhard Vielmann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for RB Hallstadt. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gerard Brameshuber stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute of the match, Feddo Roegler got a very nice opportunity to score, but Peter Schott was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Peter Schott was a little too slow when Fidelio Pfaff got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 56th minute. The score was now 1-2. 61 minutes into the game, Gerard Brameshuber recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Peter Schott. Gerard Brameshuber showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. Feddo Roegler came free with the goalkeeper in the 70th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Peter Schott could save by the left post. A collision led to RB Hallstadt getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Gilbert Unger hit a great ball. 72 minutes into the match, RB Hallstadt's goal looked a bit too open when Gerard Brameshuber came free, but Peter Schott reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. During the 81st minute of the match Gilbert Unger completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Gilbert Unger a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Peter Schott took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fidelio Pfaff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Holger Böse kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Peter Schott. That made the score 1-4 in the 86 minute of play. Peter Schott made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Feddo Roegler sent off a good shot on target. Eintracht Braunschweig played a much better game than RB Hallstadt and deserved their victory. The RB Hallstadt players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
