Spectators: 8492 (Terracing: 6370, Seating: 1953, VIP seats: 169) After 4 minutes GKS Witosa's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Amauri de Lima who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Amauri de Lima got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Luciano Aurken quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The supporters of Club V290 booed when GKS Witosa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Till Schröder didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luciano Aurken made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Detmar Woche in the 8th minute of play. Slávek Fajt was a little too slow when Heinrich Dietz got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 10th minute. The score was now 1-0. In the 16th match minute, GKS Witosa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerald Hüsken to maneuver through the defense. Club V290 were awarded a corner in the 18th minute after GKS Witosa's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Amauri de Lima took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Kjetil von Bülow got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Luciano Aurken quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 22nd minute of the match GKS Witosa got a corner. Club V290's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Till Schröder ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Till Schröder almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Club V290's Slávek Fajt did a great save. Ole Hammer kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. GKS Witosa's Heinrich Dietz got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. GKS Witosa's Luciano Aurken played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Heribert Bast in the 28th minute of play. Slávek Fajt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Heinrich Dietz, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Uwe Krause hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. GKS Witosa's Luciano Aurken played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Detmar Woche in the 35th minute of play. Detmar Woche sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Heribert Bast came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Club V290 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Heribert Bast couldn't finish the play. In the 47th minute Detmar Woche shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luciano Aurken saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

Club V290 made a substitution. Lance Gulden replaced Michel Richardsen. Club V290's Gwidon Ziomkowski was substituted for Kulisaya Bang. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marek Hirsch was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Till Schröder in the 56th minute of play forced Club V290's goalkeeper Slávek Fajt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the GKS Witosa defense, Detmar Woche kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luciano Aurken. The GKS Witosa fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luciano Aurken should have stopped the shot. Reinhard Adolph received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Luciano Aurken tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. GKS Witosa's Marek Hirsch got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ole Lammertz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Slávek Fajt having to make a save. Luciano Aurken made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Deniz Cabanis sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Detmar Woche got free with Luciano Aurken in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luciano Aurken was a little too slow when Detmar Woche got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 79th minute. The score was now 1-2. After a rather tough play, GKS Witosa's Roland Kiepski got a free kick in the 84th minute. If Heribert Bast had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 88 played minutes GKS Witosa got a freekick which was hit by Jonah Chille. 90 minutes into the match, Club V290's Detmar Woche sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luciano Aurken narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Heinrich Dietz might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Slávek Fajt. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Heinrich Dietz ran back to his position shaking his head. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Till Schröder in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Slávek Fajt prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Club V290 getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Gwidon Ziomkowski hit a great ball. Ole Lammertz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Club V290 supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Club V290 would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
