With his leg Sverker Malmberg managed to avoid a goal in the 5thth minute, when Västerlanda IFK's Egon Andreasson fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Rudolf Månsson came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Simrishamn RK's Pelle Mattsson. But to his dismay, Pelle Mattsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Rudolf Månsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Per-Erik Ahlkvist's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. Västerlanda IFK's Rudolf Månsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Per-Olof Eriksson in the 11th minute of play. In the 12th minute of the match, Egon Andreasson got a very nice opportunity to score, but Sverker Malmberg was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. An unexpected shot in the 14th minute by Egon Andreasson got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Sverker Malmberg made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Egon Andreasson sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 30 minutes, Zebastian Blomkvist managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Västerlanda IFK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zebastian Blomkvist was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 36 minutes into the game, Per-Erik Spetz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Västerlanda IFK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Simrishamn RK the free kick. If Per-Erik Ahlkvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 45th minute, Zebastian Blomkvist got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Henrik Lindberg took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 47th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rudolf Månsson. Västerlanda IFK's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Västerlanda IFK's Zebastian Blomkvist got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sverker Malmberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Egon Andreasson in the 63rd minute of play. In the 65th minute, Egon Andreasson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Västerlanda IFK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. Rudolf Månsson was a little too slow when Per-Olof Eriksson got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 68th minute. The score was now 4-2. Sverker Malmberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Egon Andreasson, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Sverker Malmberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Egon Andreasson in the 86th minute of the match. 89 minutes into the match, Per-Olof Eriksson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rudolf Månsson. Västerlanda IFK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Per-Olof Eriksson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-4.
