Simão Montenegro charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 4th match minute, Crespo Esporte Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Simão Montenegro to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Real Madruga F.C booed when Crespo Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcel Carioca didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Real Madruga F.C's Emílio Tavares got a free kick in the 7th minute. Crespo Esporte Clube's Marcel Carioca suffered a concussion in the 9th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. Arthur Donato's late challenge caught a Crespo Esporte Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arthur Donato helped the player get up and apologised. After 9 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Real Madruga F.C! In the 12th minute there was a penalty for Crespo Esporte Clube. Rubinho Jacinto stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Luiz Paulo Cerezo. 0-1. Abel de Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Paulo Cerezo having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Real Madruga F.C's zone, Abel de Queiroz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luiz Paulo Cerezo came out of the goal and Abel de Queiroz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Simão Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Luiz Paulo Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Abel de Queiroz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Abel de Queiroz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Luiz Paulo Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Real Madruga F.C's goalkeeper Luiz Paulo Cerezo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 33 minutes into the match, Real Madruga F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Abel de Queiroz came free, but Luiz Paulo Cerezo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Enio Soeiro kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. A hard shot by Arthur Donato from long distance, 40 minutes into the match, got Edu Carvalho's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Geovanni de Queiroz to make the kick off. Olívio Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Paulo Cerezo having to interfere. In the 56thth minute of the game Geovanni de Queiroz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Crespo Esporte Clube's Edu Carvalho was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Maicon Arósio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mazinho de Barros blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edu Carvalho having to make a save. In the 61st minute, Abel de Queiroz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luiz Paulo Cerezo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. A collision led to Real Madruga F.C getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Emílio Tavares hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Geovanni de Queiroz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edu Carvalho was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Geovanni de Queiroz put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Edu Carvalho. After 82nd play minutes Geovanni de Queiroz shot 2-2, a short shot which went by Edu Carvalho and just under the crossbar into goal. Real Madruga F.C's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
