But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reinhard Adolph couldn't finish the play. In the 27th minute Sven Tenhagen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Klement Rozanski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan-Carlos Cervantes in the 28th minute of play forced Club V290's goalkeeper Klement Rozanski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Bayer Leverkusen's Jens Burmeister, in the 30th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Bayer Leverkusen. Club V290's Klement Rozanski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan-Carlos Cervantes in the 32nd minute of play. Jens Burmeister sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Juan-Carlos Cervantes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jens Burmeister took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Klement Rozanski. Klement Rozanski dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Jens Burmeister made the kick off in the second half. Jens Burmeisters short, quick shot in the 53rdth minute got Klement Rozanski to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 54th match minute, Bayer Leverkusen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sven Tenhagen to maneuver through the defense. Fernando Erdiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Detmar Woche in the 55th minute of play. Club V290's Klement Rozanski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan-Carlos Cervantes in the 60th minute of play. The supporters of Club V290 booed when Bayer Leverkusen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. When Detmar Woche came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Club V290 fans jumped to their feet. When the match had gone on for 85 minutes, Detmar Woche put it in 1-4 from a short distance just to the right of Fernando Erdiano. If Detmar Woche had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 94 minutes into the game, Bayer Leverkusen's Juan-Carlos Cervantes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Klement Rozanski made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-5.
