Kevin Gottmann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Klas Josefsson in the 14th minute. In the 16th minute of the match SV Berkenbrück got a corner. DORTMUND's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Robin Trillkott ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led SV Berkenbrück's Robin Trillkott to fire away a dangerous shot which Kevin Gottmann despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 19 minutes into the match, DORTMUND's goalkeeper Kevin Gottmann had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vasily Mahnach. In the 20th minute Ronnie Hinrichsen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benjamin Debus saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benjamin Debus showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Murat Grotthaus, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. DORTMUND's Kevin Gottmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Klas Josefsson in the 24th minute of play. After 37 minutes SV Berkenbrück's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ronnie Hinrichsen who took care of the corner kick. Benjamin Debus showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Murat Grotthaus in the 39th minute of the match. In the 40th minute of the match Ronnie Hinrichsen shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benjamin Debus showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Kevin Gottmann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Klas Josefsson in the 42nd minute of play. In the 43rd minute of the match, Vasily Mahnach got a very nice opportunity to score, but Kevin Gottmann was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 45thth minute of the game Murat Grotthaus who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SV Berkenbrück's Benjamin Debus was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Donato Verdini was the one to do the kick off. Kevin Gottmann came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by SV Berkenbrück's Donato Verdini. But to his dismay, Donato Verdini quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. In the 58th minute, Donato Verdini left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SV Berkenbrück fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. With a little luck, SV Berkenbrück's Benjamin Debus got control of the ball when Murat Grotthaus tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Murat Grotthaus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of SV Berkenbrück booed when DORTMUND was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vitus Stollmann didn't get a good kick on the ball. Murat Grotthaus struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Benjamin Debus didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for DORTMUND. After 85 played minutes SV Berkenbrück got a freekick which was hit by Tino Olck. Ronnie Hinrichsen took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 86th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Benjamin Debus. SV Berkenbrück's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.
