In the 14th minute, Şeray Gürgen reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Owen Baker. The goal made the score 1-0. Güneş İltemur's late challenge caught a Miami Gators's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Owen Baker tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Miami Gators's Owen Baker proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Miami Gators from getting a goal against them. Illinois Bluewaters's Danilo Maranhense got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
