The score was 2-0 after a penalty in the 20th minute, where FC Ouagadougou National:s Hamza Yavaş tricked RWDM:s Tony Vandenberge with a difficult ball by the left post. Rene Vereijt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaakkima Kinisjärvi in the 24th minute of the match. RWDM's Tony Vandenberge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by William Westelinx in the 29th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when William Westelinx got free with Tony Vandenberge in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A sloppy throw-in by Victor Figaro in the 37th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by FC Ouagadougou National's Sergen Şahbender. FC Ouagadougou National's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Riemer Ax in the 43rd minute. A nice corner shot did that Hamza Yavaş got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Tony Vandenberge quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Tony Vandenberge stood somewhat misplaced when Hamza Yavaş came free in front of goal and shot 4-0 to the left of him in the 43 minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lennert Van der Vloedt made a kick off. William Westelinx might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tony Vandenberge. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. William Westelinx ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by William Westelinx in the 53rd minute of play forced RWDM's goalkeeper Tony Vandenberge to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 54 played minutes FC Ouagadougou National got a freekick which was hit by Andres Calamaro. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling William Westelinx in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tony Vandenberge prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The RWDM fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tony Vandenberge should have stopped the shot. FC Ouagadougou National's Jedrzej Kiszkiel was substituted for William Westelinx. 85 minutes into the match, RWDM's goal looked a bit too open when Jedrzej Kiszkiel came free, but Tony Vandenberge reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
