The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dragomir Marchovski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernando Morientes, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. In the 6th minute of the match, Santiago Meruendano tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Vladan Kovačević saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Panait Maxim in the 8th minute of play forced Union Y Progreso F.C.'s goalkeeper Dragomir Marchovski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Union Y Progreso F.C.'s Dragomir Marchovski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Panait Maxim in the 13th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Santiago Meruendano took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Vladan Kovačević to make any attempt to save it. If Santiago Meruendano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dragomir Marchovski came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Olimpia HSB's Fabian Czeszejko. But to his dismay, Fabian Czeszejko quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Fabian Czeszejko might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dragomir Marchovski. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fabian Czeszejko ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 27th minute Fabian Czeszejko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dragomir Marchovski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Olimpia HSB's Fabian Czeszejko in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Union Y Progreso F.C.'s goalie prevented a goal. In the 32nd minute Fabian Czeszejko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dragomir Marchovski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vladan Kovačević made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santiago Meruendano in the 47th minute of play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabian Czeszejko made a kick off. With a little luck, Union Y Progreso F.C.'s Dragomir Marchovski got control of the ball when Panait Maxim tried to sneak it across the goal line. Witold Prosowski replaced Tomáš Petrásek. 74 minutes into the match, Olimpia HSB's goal looked a bit too open when Santiago Meruendano came free, but Vladan Kovačević reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Union Y Progreso F.C. were awarded a corner in the 75th minute after Olimpia HSB's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Fabio Cordarell took the corner. The corner ended in Fabio Cordarell almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Olimpia HSB's Vladan Kovačević did a great save. Union Y Progreso F.C.'s Sanchez Mendecute was substituted for Mattias Barratt. Dragomir Marchovski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jacek Pietrowiak in the 85th minute. After a rather tough play, Union Y Progreso F.C.'s Carlos Sueiro got a free kick in the 93rd minute.
