Steve De Wilde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ulrik Söderlund, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Pan Jian Yong might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ingemar Åberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pan Jian Yong ran back to his position shaking his head. Protegéerna's Ingemar Åberg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Protegéerna from getting a goal against them. The audience was convinced that Petter Skarkman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Steve De Wilde was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. Pan Jian Yong blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ingemar Åberg having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pan Jian Yong in the 20th minute of play forced Protegéerna's goalkeeper Ingemar Åberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ingemar Åberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lions United. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Steve De Wilde made an important save on a dangerous shot by Petter Skarkman in the 52nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pan Jian Yong in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ingemar Åberg saved Protegéerna from getting behind. In the 56th minute of the match Lions United got a corner. Protegéerna's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gao Cheng Yun ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to Lions United's Geert-Jan Coomans getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. The supporters of Lions United booed when Protegéerna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cosme Demesio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jan Persson took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Steve De Wilde. Steve De Wilde dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Protegéerna's Christer Nyberg was substituted for Jan Persson. With his leg Steve De Wilde managed to avoid a goal in the 71stth minute, when Protegéerna's Petter Skarkman fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a rather tough play, Lions United's Yetkin Müjdat got a free kick in the 73rd minute. If Pan Jian Yong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ingemar Åberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pan Jian Yong in the 80th minute of the match. Steve De Wilde made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christer Nyberg in the 83rd minute of play. In the 84th minute of the match Protegéerna got a corner. Lions United's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Michael Näver ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Cosme Demesio heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Steve De Wilde made an important save on a dangerous shot by Petter Skarkman in the 88th minute. 91 minutes into the match, Lions United's goalkeeper Steve De Wilde had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Petter Skarkman.
