After a defensive mix-up in Canarinho Atordoado's zone, Vasile Mumuleanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dé Mello came out of the goal and Vasile Mumuleanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 25 minutes into the match, Róbert Pál-Szabó notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Canarinho Atordoado's Dé Mello. Dé Mello was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Frank Lauria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pontus Ligers, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. John-Paul Pras fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Lauria having to interfere. Dé Mello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vasile Mumuleanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Irinel Aldea kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Pontus Ligers managed to get in a good position for a shot. Canarinho Atordoado's supporters rose to their feet, but Pontus Ligers was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Frank Lauria breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ioan Andone lost his temper 47 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 46 minutes into the game, one of Champions Iasi:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Frank Lauria had in the 48thth minute some difficulties stopping Pontus Ligers's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball.
