Bill Carmichael took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kerry Sellers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Topsail's Bill Carmichael got control of the ball when Garth Gould tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 15th minute, Topsail's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Garth Gould fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Juan Driscoll kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. In the 21st minute Kerry Sellers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bill Carmichael saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Topsail booed when C. A. Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomas Gustafson didn't get a good kick on the ball. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tommie Bolton to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 55th minute of the game. One of Topsail:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of C. A. Independiente:s goal.
