Hernan Firme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pavlos Gonias, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. If Patricio Bixintxo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Brun in the 46th minute of play forced Puerto Argentino's goalkeeper Gil Massa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 88th minute, Puerto Argentino's Walter-Adrián Samuel seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Walter-Adrián Samuel the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Puerto Argentino protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Walter-Adrián Samuel had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 87 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Puerto Argentino! After 90 minutes Puerto Argentino's goalkeeper Gil Massa managed, with a little bit of luck, save Rene Erlantz's penalty, on his right side after a tricky shot.
