Clemente Anaya sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baldomero Rodas in the 33rd minute of play forced La Gallardeta's goalkeeper Belchior Saldanha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Despite this Angelo Distiratsu quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The corner led La Gallardeta's Vintilă Guriță to fire away a dangerous shot which Angelo Distiratsu despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Eric Oltean received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Belchior Saldanha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 42 minutes into the game, Jan-Olof Eliasson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. La Gallardeta's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atlético Nacional the free kick. The supporters of Atlético Nacional booed when La Gallardeta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jan-Olof Eliasson didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 46 minutes Atlético Nacional's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Vintilă Guriță who took care of the corner kick. After the first half Atlético Nacional were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Clemente Anaya to strike the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, Atlético Nacional's goal looked a bit too open when Jan-Olof Eliasson came free, but Angelo Distiratsu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 84 minutes, Wilfred Vrede put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Angelo Distiratsu. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eliseo Berasko got free with Belchior Saldanha in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Angelo Distiratsu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilfred Vrede in the 96th minute of the match. La Gallardeta were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Atlético Nacional for a fine match.
