An unexpectedly hard shot by Nico Gruenewald in the 12th minute of play forced ARAPONGAS's goalkeeper Patrik Babst to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Nico Gruenewald kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Patrik Babst. That made the score 1-0 in the 14 minute of play. 21 minutes into the game, Louie Anderjoli was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. 1. FC Union Weberei's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ARAPONGAS the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nico Gruenewald in the 27th minute of play forced ARAPONGAS's goalkeeper Patrik Babst to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nico Gruenewald got free with Patrik Babst in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Patrik Babst came out of the goal and Owain Wollenmann tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lee Pellandini made a kick off. When Bonifatius Scarano came up free with the goalie in the 50th minute, the 1. FC Union Weberei fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bonifatius Scarano couldn't finish the play. After having played for 54 minutes, Ken Aeberli managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ARAPONGAS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ken Aeberli was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 58 minutes of play, 1. FC Union Weberei's Nico Gruenewald made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Patrik Babst was left in no man's land by his defense there! ARAPONGAS's Jan Spörri was substituted for Henry Hoch. A collision led to 1. FC Union Weberei getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Casimir Wickihalter hit a great ball. After 66 played minutes ARAPONGAS got a freekick which was hit by Timon Gmür. Patrik Babst showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Casimir Wickihalter in the 72nd minute of the match. 76 minutes into the game, 1. FC Union Weberei's Bonifatius Scarano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Patrik Babst made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Timon Gmür hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. After 81 played minutes, 1. FC Union Weberei's Felix Pierucci shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Patrik Babst came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in 1. FC Union Weberei reached it. Neil Rondinelli struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Heiner Studer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ARAPONGAS. After having played for 90 minutes, Lee Pellandini managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ARAPONGAS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lee Pellandini was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee ended the match the 1. FC Union Weberei players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
