The audience was convinced that Sven-Olof Vestlund's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Helmuth Duckadam was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sven-Olof Vestlund in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Helmuth Duckadam saved FC Ruscova from getting behind. 17 minutes into the match, CAN ERZURUM's goal looked a bit too open when Freek Jongbloedt came free, but Joar Scheie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joar Scheie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Natã Miranda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 20 minutes had been played when some careless play by CAN ERZURUM's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Albert Harbuz was slow to take the kick. During this time FC Ruscova's players had a chance to rest. Albert Harbuz made a great header on FC Ruscova's corner, it was just that CAN ERZURUM's Joar Scheie managed to reach the ball for a save. If Sven-Olof Vestlund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The corner ended in Kieran Tierney almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but CAN ERZURUM's Joar Scheie did a great save. Joar Scheie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Natã Miranda in the 46th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Romeo Malcoci was the one to do the kick off. Joar Scheie made an important save on a dangerous shot by Natã Miranda in the 51st minute. With a little luck, CAN ERZURUM's Joar Scheie got control of the ball when Romeo Malcoci tried to sneak it across the goal line. FC Ruscova's Helmuth Duckadam played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven-Olof Vestlund in the 59th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 82nd minute by Natã Miranda got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. When Sven-Olof Vestlund came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the CAN ERZURUM fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sven-Olof Vestlund couldn't finish the play. Sven-Olof Vestlund's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Helmuth Duckadam read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. The supporters of CAN ERZURUM booed when FC Ruscova was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Natã Miranda didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 93rd minute Sven-Olof Vestlund shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Helmuth Duckadam saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 96 minutes into the match, FC Ruscova's goal looked a bit too open when Sven-Olof Vestlund came free, but Helmuth Duckadam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
