After 10 minutes of play, CLUBE PANTERA NEGRA's Wesley Safadão made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. But to his dismay, Jackie Chana quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. CLUBE PANTERA NEGRA's Ruy Amaral got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With his leg Fred Santana managed to avoid a goal in the 27thth minute, when MINEIROS's Toninho Goiano fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 28 minutes into the match, CLUBE PANTERA NEGRA's goalkeeper Fred Santana had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Toninho Goiano. When Vágner Gaspar fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored MINEIROS's protests and gave Vágner Gaspar a yellow card for diving instead. After 31 played minutes MINEIROS got a freekick which was hit by Vágner Gaspar. 33 minutes into the game, Joel Quadros recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Fred Santana. Joel Quadros showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. After 40 played minutes CLUBE PANTERA NEGRA got a freekick which was hit by Washington Vinhas. Through an outstanding action, after 41 minutes, Fred Santana successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. If Washington Vinhas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

58 minutes into the match, Joel Quadros notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of CLUBE PANTERA NEGRA's Fred Santana. Fred Santana was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Joel Quadros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Washington Vinhas charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Washington Vinhas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, CLUBE PANTERA NEGRA's Washington Vinhas got a free kick in the 64th minute. The supporters of CLUBE PANTERA NEGRA booed when MINEIROS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Paraíba didn't get a good kick on the ball. Serginho Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jackie Chana in the 71st minute of play. In the 73rd minute Toninho Goiano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fred Santana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 73rd minute, Benê Amorim hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Washington Vinhas kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 77 minutes, the score became 4-2 when Toninho Goiano sped through CLUBE PANTERA NEGRA's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Fred Santana. Serginho Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruy Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
