The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Martijn Van Huytvenne's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Teo Dechamps read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 6th minute of play. 7 minutes into the match, Brakkies New Bastards's goalkeeper Teo Dechamps had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Martijn Van Huytvenne. Martijn Van Huytvenne received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Teo Dechamps tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Royal Antwerp FC booed when Brakkies New Bastards was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kenn Fossaert didn't get a good kick on the ball. 12 minutes into the game, Noel Creemers recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Teo Dechamps. Noel Creemers showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Noel Creemers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Teo Dechamps having to interfere. 23 minutes into the match, Brakkies New Bastards's goal looked a bit too open when Noel Creemers came free, but Teo Dechamps reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Noel Creemers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Teo Dechamps was a little too slow when Aaron Van der Hoeven got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 33rd minute. The score was now 2-1. 36 minutes into the match, Brakkies New Bastards's goalkeeper Teo Dechamps had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Martijn Van Huytvenne. In the 36th match minute, Brakkies New Bastards was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kenn Fossaert to maneuver through the defense. Luka De Roeck blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arnoud Vlimmens having to make a save. Teo Dechamps made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Noel Creemers in the 40th minute of play. Teo Dechamps took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Noel Creemers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Brakkies New Bastards getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Frans Lefevere hit a great ball. A hard shot by Benoit De Maijer from long distance, 48 minutes into the match, got Teo Dechamps's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Martijn Van Huytvenne to strike the kick off in the second half. Arnoud Vlimmens was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luka De Roeck struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Arnoud Vlimmens didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Brakkies New Bastards. Through an outstanding action, after 87 minutes, Arnoud Vlimmens successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Arnoud Vlimmens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Freddy de Cijser in the 90th minute of play. If Martijn Van Huytvenne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Benoit De Maijer's late challenge caught a Brakkies New Bastards's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Benoit De Maijer helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Brakkies New Bastards booed when Royal Antwerp FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benoit De Maijer didn't get a good kick on the ball.
