The supporters of Sagene IF booed when Skytta Toppidrettslag was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stian Bergersen didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 8th minute, Ole-Martin Lium hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 11 minutes into the game, Sagene IF's Rune Le nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Birger Hammerstad made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Skytta Toppidrettslag's Birger Hammerstad played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rune Le in the 19th minute of play. Olav Westad showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Svein Knarvik, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. After 24 minutes, Svein Knarvik mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Skytta Toppidrettslag and the Sagene IF players grew even worse after the yellow card. Olav Westad made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Svein Knarvik in the 31st minute of play. Andreas Grøndahl fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Birger Hammerstad having to interfere. In the 39th minute, Skytta Toppidrettslag's Atle Sundstrøm dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. A collision led to Skytta Toppidrettslag getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Martin Norheim hit a great ball. Rune Le sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Svein Knarvik made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Sagene IF's goal looked a bit too open when Torgeir Klepp came free, but Olav Westad reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 59th play minutes Svein Knarvik shot 3-1, a short shot which went by Olav Westad and just under the crossbar into goal. Ole-Martin Lium sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sagene IF's Olav Westad played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Atle Sundstrøm in the 67th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Svein Knarvik in the 70th minute of play forced Sagene IF's goalkeeper Olav Westad to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olav Westad came out of the goal in the 71st minute to try and stop a shot by Skytta Toppidrettslag's Torgeir Klepp. But to his dismay, Torgeir Klepp quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. When Andreas Grøndahl came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Sagene IF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andreas Grøndahl couldn't finish the play. Andreas Grøndahl sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kjell Ekeli hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. In the 85th minute, Atle Sundstrøm left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net.
