Galip Öveç took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rogelio Ieltxu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15th minute, Ambrosio Modestio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Galip Öveç made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rogelio Ieltxu in the 18th minute. Arnulfo Garci made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lisandro Ekialde in the 20th minute of play. In the 22nd minute, Edgardo Martxel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Rincón de los Sauces AFC getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Baldomero Tanio hit a great ball. In the 28th minute Lisandro Ekialde shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnulfo Garci saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lisandro Ekialde to make the kick off. Arnulfo Garci made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Lisandro Ekialde sent off a good shot on target. Benito Obeko fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Galip Öveç having to interfere. If Lisandro Ekialde had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rincón de los Sauces AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lobos Fútbol Club the free kick. The supporters of Lobos Fútbol Club booed when Rincón de los Sauces AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgardo Martxel didn't get a good kick on the ball.
