In the 7th minute, Oséas Chaves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marcelo Linares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joga Redondo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 11 minutes into the match, Edson Futebol Clube's Naldo Rodrigues sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marcelo Linares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joga Redondo in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcelo Linares saved Atlético Minuano from getting behind. Marcelo Linares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joga Redondo's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. Marcelo Linares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joga Redondo in the 18th minute of play. Tadeu Barreto hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Naldo Rodrigues came free with the goalkeeper in the 20th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Marcelo Linares could save by the left post. Atlético Minuano's Marcelo Linares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Atlético Minuano from getting a goal against them. 31 minutes into the match, Atlético Minuano's goal looked a bit too open when Joga Redondo came free, but Marcelo Linares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 33rd minute, Edson Futebol Clube's Joga Redondo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. 39 minutes into the game, Joga Redondo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Marcelo Linares was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Naldo Rodrigues managed to get in a good position for a shot. Edson Futebol Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Naldo Rodrigues was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcelo Linares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marcelo Linares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joga Redondo in the 44th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice moves Naldo Rodrigues could shoot a difficult shot in the 45th minute, which Marcelo Linares however easily saved by the left post. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jardel Dionísio was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd match minute, Edson Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Murilo de Senna to maneuver through the defense. In the 55th minute, Murilo de Senna made a precise shot to the right of Marcelo Linares. Atlético Minuano's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Víktor Guerra took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcelo Linares. Marcelo Linares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Marcelo Linares didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Víktor Guerra went, in the 62nd minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. Edson Futebol Clube's Clóvis Paraibano was substituted for Naldo Rodrigues. When Romário Monteiro fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atlético Minuano's protests and gave Romário Monteiro a yellow card for diving instead. In the 66th minute, Romário Monteiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 68 minutes into the game, Jardel Dionísio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Atlético Minuano's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Edson Futebol Clube the free kick. The audience was convinced that Joga Redondo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcelo Linares was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. In the 76th minute, Clóvis Paraibano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 79th minute Víktor Guerra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Linares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eusébio Godoi hit a great ball. 84 minutes into the game, Mané Souza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 7-0. Marcelo Linares was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 87th play minutes Joga Redondo shot 8-0, a short shot which went by Marcelo Linares and just under the crossbar into goal. 91 minutes into the match, Atlético Minuano's goal looked a bit too open when Clóvis Paraibano came free, but Marcelo Linares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Edson Futebol Clube fans' excitement grew in the 92nd match minute when Edson Futebol Clube's Víktor Guerra looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 9-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Edson Futebol Clube had played much better football throughout.
