But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Eduardo Cabral couldn't finish the play. 75 minutes into the match, São Petersburgo FC's goalkeeper Erasmo de Azevedo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vítor Soares. Diguinho Negri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eugênio Meirelles, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. FIEL ALGUSTA had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
