But to his dismay, Trey Marino quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Dean Paige kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Sherwood Overton's late challenge caught a Nomads Football Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sherwood Overton helped the player get up and apologised. In the 10th match minute, Houston Fire F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sherwood Overton to maneuver through the defense. After 16 played minutes, Houston Fire F.C.'s DeMarcus Califf shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Sean Deaton came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Houston Fire F.C. reached it. Geoffrey Calderwood took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Neal Schaefer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mark Whittaker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Derek Metzger could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Sean Deaton made a huge save. 33 minutes into the match, Nomads Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Scott Guerra came free, but Sean Deaton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 43 minutes into the match, Nomads Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Lucien Yeats came free, but Sean Deaton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Nomads Football Club were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Scott Guerra made the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Trey Marino in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Geoffrey Calderwood saved Houston Fire F.C. from getting behind. Nomads Football Club's Mark Whittaker got his second yellow card of the match in the 53rd minute. The referee ordered Mark Whittaker off the ground. After a rather tough play, Nomads Football Club's Mark Whittaker got a free kick in the 54th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Quintin Mann in the 56th minute of play forced Nomads Football Club's goalkeeper Sean Deaton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sean Deaton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Derek Metzger in the 57th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Nomads Football Club's Dave Vickers got a free kick in the 58th minute. In the 61st match minute, Nomads Football Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnoldo Decker to maneuver through the defense. Sherwood Overton hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. In the 76th minute Scott Guerra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sean Deaton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 77th match minute, Nomads Football Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnoldo Decker to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Houston Fire F.C. defense, Douglass Tinsley kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Geoffrey Calderwood. The Houston Fire F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Geoffrey Calderwood should have stopped the shot. Travis Milligan scored 1-3 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sean Deaton, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some careless play in the Nomads Football Club defense, Scott Guerra kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sean Deaton. The Nomads Football Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sean Deaton should have stopped the shot. When DeMarcus Califf came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Houston Fire F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that DeMarcus Califf couldn't finish the play. The Houston Fire F.C. manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Nomads Football Club to win.
