The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ivaylo Yordanov kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Juliano Festas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivaylo Yordanov, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. 13 minutes into the match, Arrebimba o Malho SLB's goal looked a bit too open when Ivaylo Yordanov came free, but Juliano Festas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Donato Viana made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Roberto Gama sent off a good shot on target. Leandro Sacadura kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. In the 17th minute of the match Mustapha Hadji shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Juliano Festas showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Donato Viana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valério Zarco in the 19th minute of play. The supporters of Arrebimba o Malho SLB booed when Sporting Clube de Gaya was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Murilo Vilhena didn't get a good kick on the ball. Abel Amaral hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ivaylo Yordanov in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Juliano Festas saved Arrebimba o Malho SLB from getting behind. 28 minutes into the match, Arrebimba o Malho SLB's Roberto Gama sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Donato Viana narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Salvador Viegas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ivaylo Yordanov struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Juliano Festas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting Clube de Gaya. After 38 played minutes Sporting Clube de Gaya got a freekick which was hit by Gonçalo Coelho. Valério Zarco kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. In the 48th minute, Salvador Viegas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Juliano Festas was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After the first half Sporting Clube de Gaya were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ivaylo Yordanov made a kick off. After 55 minutes of play, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Salvador Viegas made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Juliano Festas was left in no man's land by his defense there! After having played for 59 minutes, Sabino Prestes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Arrebimba o Malho SLB's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sabino Prestes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Alcino Festas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ademar Pinto's late challenge caught a Arrebimba o Malho SLB's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ademar Pinto helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Arrebimba o Malho SLB booed when Sporting Clube de Gaya was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ademar Pinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 68th minute of the match, Toine Carioca sent away a good long shot that could have become a goal, but Donato Viana showed an example of his skillful tending and made the save just under the crossbar. In the 69thth minute of the game Ivaylo Yordanov who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Arrebimba o Malho SLB's Juliano Festas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 70th minute, Heitor Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Salvador Viegas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Valério Zarco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Donato Viana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roberto Gama in the 77th minute of play. Roberto Gama received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Donato Viana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 80th match minute, Arrebimba o Malho SLB was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rogério Azenha to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Arrebimba o Malho SLB defense, Mustapha Hadji kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Juliano Festas. The Arrebimba o Malho SLB fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Juliano Festas should have stopped the shot. 91 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube de Gaya's goal looked a bit too open when Valério Zarco came free, but Donato Viana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 93 minutes, Salvador Viegas took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Juliano Festas to make any attempt to save it. The Sporting Clube de Gaya players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
