Daustad's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sagene IF the free kick. The supporters of Sagene IF booed when Daustad was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ole-Gunnar Schou didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Sagene IF defense, Arne Hageland kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Olav Green. The Sagene IF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olav Green should have stopped the shot. 11 minutes into the game, Martin Stavnes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Olav Green was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Martin Stavnes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Olav Green tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 19 minutes into the match, Arne Hageland had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Olav Green. Sagene IF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Arne Hageland was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. After 24 minutes, Erik Ljosland mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sagene IF and the Daustad players grew even worse after the yellow card. 25 minutes into the match, Arne Hageland notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Sagene IF's Olav Green. Olav Green was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 28 minutes into the match, Sagene IF's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Stavnes came free, but Olav Green reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arne Hageland hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Fredrik Unhjem received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Karsten Hveding tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 47 played minutes Daustad got a freekick which was hit by Christian Liknes. The Sagene IF players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Daustad were winning 0-5.

Tage Kvammen charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tage Kvammen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Olav Green took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arne Hageland, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 68 minutes into the game, Daustad's Martin Stavnes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Olav Green made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. 74 minutes into the match, Sagene IF's goal looked a bit too open when Arne Hageland came free, but Olav Green reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chris Holmvik's late challenge caught a Sagene IF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chris Holmvik helped the player get up and apologised. Karsten Hveding made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronny Bruvoll in the 80th minute of play. In the 82nd minute Arne Hageland shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olav Green saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Martin Stavnes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Olav Green made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Martin Stavnes sent off a good shot on target. Ole-Gunnar Schou who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 89thth minute tested the skills of Olav Green when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Daustad walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
